Academic Stack acts as a lightweight middleware layer: it synchronizes citation information from open APIs, prepares it for publisher pages, and presents it through a consistent badge interface.
Citation counts may differ across sources because each database counts citations within its own indexed collection. Crossref, OpenAlex, and OpenCitations do not always cover the same citing records, so their cited-by numbers can naturally vary.
